Another emblematic monument in Milan is the Sforzesco castle located in the heart of the city. In a modern city like Milan, it is surprising to see a castle built during the 14th century by Galeazzo Visconti to defend the city against Venice!

Travelling to Milan: useful tips

If you are not a citizen of the European Union, to enter Italy you will need a passport that remains valid at least three months after the date that you plan to leave the Schengen area, an area of 26 countries where people and merchandise can circulate freely that includes Italy. However, you do not need a visa for stays less than 90 days.

The currency in Italy is the euro. Credit cards are accepted everywhere.

If you would like to rent a car when you arrive in Milan, it is recommended to have an international driver's license.

The best periods to travel to Milan, are the months of May, June and September and October (average temperature 20 degrees). The weather is warm and pleasant and there is little rain.
